June, 8– Several researchers from Institute of Plantation Studies (IKP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) was invited by the Malaysian Society of Soil Science (MSSS) to attend the MSSS Dialogue entitled “Sustainable Land Use Management Towards Achieving National Food Security” which was held at Bangi Resort Hotel. IKP was represented by Prof. Dr. Wong Mui Yun (Deputy Director, IKP), Assoc .Prof. Dr. Nolila Mohd Nawi (Head of Laboratory of Sustainable Agronomy and Plant Protection) and Dr. Erneeza Mohd Hata (Research Officer, IKP).
This Dialogue was moderated by Dr. Wan Noordin Wan Daud. The panelists for the dialogue were Dr. Che’ Fauziah Ishak (MSSS Fellow), Dr. Ghulam Mohamed Hashim (MSSS Fellow/ MARDI), Dr. Xavier Arulandoo (United Plantations Berhad) and Dr. Mohd Shafar Jefri Mokhatar (UPM). The event was attended by 60 participants from various universities, government agencies, and industries. From the discussion, a resolution was drafted related to sustainable land use management in Malaysia.
