SERDANG, February 5^th – A discussion between researchers from the Institute of Plantation Studies (IKP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) with YBhg. Dato' Sri Mustapa Mohamed was held in the IKP’s Meeting Room. YBhg. Dato' Sri Mustapa Mohamed was welcomed by the Director of the institute, YBrs. Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Siti Khairunniza Bejo, top management members and IKP staff.

In this discussion, YBhg. Dato' Sri Mustapa Mohamed had the opportunity to recognize and understand the role and thrust of IKP which focuses on the plantation industry. YBhg. Dato' Sri Mustapa Mohamed and IKP researchers also shared their experiences and views regarding the challenges in the agricultural industry in Malaysia, especially in the issue of food security. Among the issues which were discussed during the meeting were the marketing of agricultural products (storage and transportation technology) as well as the role of government and state agencies in terms of collaboration in agricultural projects that can uplift the smallholder's household income.
